“This is a great book that should be read by parents and kids alike, because not only is the artwork exquisite, each piece of poetry is a treasure with a message, ” says Penny D. Weigand, CEO of Bellissima Publishing LLC.
This is the first Rich Okun book published by Bellissima Publishing, LLC. Okun came to Bellissima with several credits on his writing resume, and it turned out he was a perfect fit for Bellissima Publishing, LLC, at least as far as CEO Weigand was concerned. The book, “Earth Wind, Fire And Maya” is a collection of 7” by 10” photographs of his wonderful paintings, accompanied by Okun’s poetry “We like to think of ourselves as a small publishing company with a message, a mission and a heart, as well as a special place for children of all ages,” Weigand adds. “Okun is first an artist and then a poet. He reminds one of a modern day Norman Rockwell. I hope to win a Caldecott award with this book!”
Rich Okun spent most of his career in various corporate positions, and was one of the youngest members of the Art Student’s League of New York. He thinks he finally has an answer to the question he has asked himself all of his life; and that question is, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” In short, Rich feels he has now found his calling, writing and illustrating children’s books, inspired by a small dog named Maya. And CEO Weigand thinks he just may have it right this time.
There is a video on the Bellissimavideo YouTube Channel that goes along with this book that you can watch at ---
The video vocal is by Penelope Dyan, the daughter of the late great jazz trumpet player, Pete Sirna.
