A boutique public relations agency specializing in small businesses and non-profits, Blueplate PR will work with the Evergreen B&B Club to increase the club’s visibility and strengthen its brand among the 50-plus demographic in the United States and Canada.
Since 1982, Evergreen B&B Club members have developed a network of low-cost bed-and-breakfast homestay options for travel enthusiasts age 50 and older. Most members are “empty nesters” who pool their seldom-used guest rooms into the travel network. Members must agree to host fellow members in their homes for a gratuity of under $25 per night for two, which includes breakfast.
Currently, there are over 2000 Evergreen homestays throughout North America and many members celebrating 10 to 25 years with the Club. Building relationships with fellow members is one of the primary reasons for such long-term membership, according to Evergreen Club Director Linda Mardi.
“The Evergreen B&B Club is really about meeting new friends that you never knew you had,” she said. “That it’s also a very economical way to travel is just frosting on the cake Our members love to meet new people and they love discovering local places, sights, and experiences that they would never discover otherwise. Our hosts know all the special details about their hometowns – a great pie shop, for example, or an unusual little museum, or local diner that makes it’s own doughnuts – that would never even show up at a hotel’s concierge desk.”
The Club is now focusing on enrolling new members in new regions, both in the U.S. and Canada, and increasing its visibility, especially among the 50-something demographic, which is why Mardi hired Blueplate PR.
“Having a dedicated public relations partner on board will help us increase visibility among that demographic and expand our network into cities where we would love to have more members,” Mardi said.
“Obviously the Evergreen B&B Club is a success since it’s been around for over 30 years,” said Blueplate PR’s owner and operator, Kim Weiss, “so I’m very honored that the club chose Blueplate PR. I’m really looking forward to working with the Evergreen B&B Club to introduce ‘new’ 50-somethings to such warm, friendly, and cost-conscious travel and to confirm the club’s uniqueness among other lodging options. I have no doubt that there are thousands of 50-plus travel enthusiasts out there who would love to know about this ‘Adventure in Hospitality’
