The PDR was created with Cosworth, a British motorsports engineering company, and it has been announced that the system will be available when 2015 Corvette production begins in the latter stages of the third quarter of 2014. There are three major components that make up the Performance Data Recorder. The first is a 720p HD camera, which is placed within the windshield header trim. The high-def camera records the video from the view point of the driver while the audio is recorded through a microphone inside the vehicle.

The second component of the PDR is a self-contained telemetry recorder. The system uses a GPS receiver that operates five times faster than the in-dash navigation system. This specific GPS also allows for better positioning. The telemetry recorder is hard wired into the Controller Area Network, which allows for information such as engine speed and transmission gear selection to be accessed.

The final piece of the system is an SD card slot in the glove box that records and transfers video and vehicle data. The size of the card determines the recording time. For example, an 8GB card can store up to approximately 200 minutes, while a 32GB card can store around 800 minutes.

Video can be viewed on the 8-inch color touchscreen in the Stingray when the vehicle is in park. Users can also download the video to a computer for further editing. Real-time video can be recorded with data overlay options, recording data such as speed, rpm, lap time, and g-force.
