What:          Pamela Grayson-Baltimore is the recipient of this year’s Drum Major for Justice Award. Grayson-Baltimore, founder and CEO of I Dare to Care (http://www.id2c.org/about-id2c.html), a Camden, N.J.-based grassroots mentoring organization, will be honored at a program celebrating the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Founded in 2008, I Dare to Care meets the needs of the community by providing educational, financial, social and other resources to teens and women who may not otherwise have access.

The theme of this year’s program is “Celebrating Equal Opportunities on Equal Terms.” Theta Pi Omega Chapter member Jennifer Lewis-Hall (http://phl17.com/bio/jennifer-lewis-hall/#axzz2q89tlLD2), host of WPHL 17 morning show, “Eye Opener,” will address this theme through a keynote address that highlights the plight of African American women in their quest for civil rights—past, present and future.

“Over the years, Alpha Kappa Alpha women have played a key role in the struggle for civil rights. We will continue this fight, in honor of Dr. King and all those who sacrificed their life for this cause, until the battle has been won,” stated Melanie L. Burney, President of Theta Pi Omega Chapter. “Pamela Grayson-Baltimore is committed to improving the lives of the citizens of Camden, by providing access to life-changing resources. On a day set aside to celebrate the life of Dr. King, it is truly a privilege to recognize a woman who has taken a page from his playbook.”

In furtherance the sorority’s mission of being of service to all mankind, the members of Theta Pi Omega Chapter will donate microwaveable and non-perishable food that will be packaged and delivered to local senior citizens.
