Certero Announces of Winning Prestigious Building Better Healthcare Award for its commitment

MELBOURNE, Australia - Jan. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Melbourne, - International PC Power Management solutions developer Certero today announced that it has won the Award for Building Better Healthcare in the Carbon Reduction Category. The ceremony was held at The Brewery in London on the 6th November 2013 where the judges commended Certero and Barts Health NHS for their commitment to carbon reduction.

With approximately 1 million PCs, the NHS has the carbon footprint of a small country, producing 21 million tonnes of CO2e a year. The firm’s PC Power Management solution PowerStudio® has been selected by a plethora of NHS organisations across the country including Barts Health NHS Trust and has saved millions of Pounds and tonnes of CO2.

The PC Power Management solution uses intelligent software to monitor computer usage patterns and identifies when PCs can be powered off to help save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

The award was given to PowerStudio® for the project with Barts Health NHS Trust. The organisation has close to 15,000 employees spread across the hospital’s portfolio of specialist centres. With the entire PC estate encompassing 26 buildings, the PC Power Management project needed to apply multiple power saving policies to various organisational units. One of Certero’s major discoveries was the high overnight power waste of 85%. This meant the potential energy savings could recoup the cost of the solution within four months. Using Certero PowerStudio® solution the trust is driving savings of £10,000 a month and around £600,000 over the next 5 years. Since implementing the solution and applying policies, the trust is savings hundreds of tonnes of CO2.
