Interior Designer Cures Cancer!

Interior Designer and Window Treatment consult designs a conceptual space to deal with the psychological trauma associated with cancer and it's treatments.

RED BANK, N.J. - Jan. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Window Treatment and Interior designer Natalie Rosenthal came up with a conceptual design to cure the trauma that results from cancer treatments. Natalie said that “years of research and science has given us better preventative information and sophisticated means of detection but has of yet not dealt with the psychological issues during and after treatment.” She said that she understands that people may think that the trauma may seem “frivolous considering the nature of the disease, but I believe the mind can help the body to heal.” Natalie came up with a concept to deal with the psychological trauma of cancer and help lift women out of the deep depression they may find themselves in. Many women with cancer lose their hair and eyelashes, causing them to feel ugly and hurting their feeling of self-worth.

As part of the Brookdale Community College Interior Design program Natalie designed a cure, a solution, a space where these women can feel beautiful again. She believes that restoring a woman’s ego, her feeling beautiful, is crucial for her psychological health. Therefore she took the assigned project at Brookdale as an opportunity to come up with a solution.

Natalie designed a ‘sanctuary’ for women to “explore, experience, and enjoy their ‘BEAUTY WITHIN’.” It is very important for women to feel beautiful and vibrant. When women enter this ‘sanctuary’ they will be surrounded with beauty. The designed space has bright, beautiful colors and artwork, not medical equipment. The space will be for women talk, and the clients will be treated as if they were in a spa or a salon. The chat in this space will be of the latest lipstick shade, and there will be a space to try on beautiful new clothing and dresses.  The focus of the design considered the elements of harmony and balance. The space includes a relaxation room with a waterfall for calm and serenity. This will allow the women to detach from their world of medical concerns and enjoy some peace and tranquility.
