Who Killed 'Tom Jones' A Novel by Gale Martin (Women's Contemporary Fiction)
By: Booktrope Publishing

SEATTLE - Jan. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Gale Martin has been a fan of Sir Tom Jones since age 11 while watching the TV show “This is Tom Jones” in her flannel pajamas. The Lititz, PA resident and Harcum College employee has channeled her lifelong affection for Tom Jones’ music and her amazement with the popularity of celebrity impersonators into a suspenseful novel with romantic elements called WHO KILLED ‘TOM JONES’? launching January 21, 2014, to be published by Seattle-based Booktrope Editions.

In Gale Martin’s newest novel, Ellie Overton is a 28-year-old rest home receptionist with a pussycat nose who also happens to be gaga for the pop singer Tom Jones. Regrettably single, she is desperate to have a red-hot love relationship, like those she’s read about in romance novels. Following an astrological hunch, she attends a Tom Jones Festival and meets an available, young impersonator with more looks than talent. Though he’s knocked out of the contest, he’s still in the running to become Ellie’s blue-eyed soul mate—until he’s accused of killing the competition. It’s not unusual that the handsome police detective working the case is spending more time pursuing Ellie than collaring suspects. So, she enlists some wily and witty rest home residents to help find the real murderer. The novel is set against the backdrop of another small town in Pennsylvania called Pankey, sister city to Hankey and the setting for her debut novel.

“Besides watching too many grainy YouTube videos of Tom Jones’ performances, I had the extraordinary good fortune to interview the world’s best Tom Jones impersonator Steve McCoy, a New Jersey native and Tom Jones impersonation contest winner, who stars as Tom Jones in ‘Legends in Concert,’” Gale Martin said. “‘Legends’ is the longest-running and best known tribute artist show, playing in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and selected locations worldwide. McCoy’s perspective was invaluable to my recreating the world of the impersonators and their fans. I even created a character in the novel inspired by him.”

Steve McCoy’s likeness is also featured on the cover. The photo was taken in Las Vegas in 1995 while McCoy was performing with “Legends in Concert.”

"I've never had the chance to hurl an undergarment at Sir Tom Jones or anyone impersonating him," Martin concluded. "I suppose that has been on my bucket list decades before the term 'bucket list, became popular."
