In choosing the location, Zhu Shanqing, Keer Group’s chairman, cited the state’s workforce, proximity to cotton producers and access to the Port of Charleston.
“South Carolina quickly rose to the top of our list," Mr. Zhu said in a press release published by the South Carolina Department of Commerce. "We look forward to a successful partnership with the state and the local community as we get this facility up and running during the next year."
The Keer Group of Hangzhou, China, founded in 1995, manufactures cotton yarn in a large facility in China with more than 2,000 employees. Its Charlotte-based Keer America subsidiary was founded in February 2013.
