The show is a staple in the Twin Cities and known for featuring inspirational, travel and adventure segments.Guest host Liz Collin and the camera crew visited the Island last spring just as the season was getting into full swing. The show begins as she boards the ferry destined for Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark. She shares, “it is a truly unique place, offering a historic, preserved, old-world charm. Cars were outlawed on the island in 1898, so bicycles and horse drawn carriages remain the mode of transportation today.” Liz Collin is a member of the WCCO-TV news team, working as a weekend anchor and reporter. While she enjoyed investigative work, she says “Life to the Max lets her tell stories that sometimes don’t get the chance to be told on local news.” Executive director of the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau Mary McGuire Slevin recalls, “it was an absolute pleasure showing Liz and the camera crew around the Island, from the Arnold Line Ferry to a horse drawn carriages tour with Mackinac Island Carriage Tours and a bicycle tour courtesy of Mackinac Island Bike Rental. Our office organized the shoot and did our best to ensure it encompassed the greatest hits of Mackinac Island and fit in with their shoot schedule. They also filmed at Fort Mackinac, sampled some Mackinac Island Fudge and visited the iconic Grand Hotel. They were so impressed with Grand Hotel, they created an additional episode on the hotel itself. “Life to the Max” is sponsored by Lifetouch and produced by Lifetouch Media Productions.Tune in Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11:05 p.m. and again Sunday, Jan. 19, at 5:30 a.m. (re-broadcast) End
