PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 13, 2014 - AUSTIN, Texas -- Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital earned the highest possible customer satisfaction rating of 5 stars for 2013, winning it a third straight Talk of the Town Customer Satisfaction Award in the Veterinarians category.

The Talk of the Town Awards, presented by Talk of the Town News, Customer Care News magazine and Celebration Media U.S., honor companies and professionals that provide excellent customer service as reported by their customers through no-cost, user-review websites, blogs, social networks, business rating services, and other honors and accolades. This data is analyzed by a team of researchers who calculate a company’s CM Power Rating. Only those that receive a 4-star to 5-star rating receive the Talk of the Town Customer Satisfaction Award.

Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital (AVDH) is a neighborhood veterinary practice with the equipment and facilities of a specialty animal hospital. In addition to three straight Talk of the Town Awards, the practice has won a host of other awards, including Austin’s Best Veterinarian, thanks to its talented and committed staff and some of the most advanced, high-tech diagnostic equipment.

“High-tech is not limited to electronics and automobiles,” says Leslee Hurwitz, AVDH Hospital Director. “There is high-tech in the veterinary world as well. At AVDH we celebrate these advancements every day through faster diagnosis and treatment.”

Among the technology and equipment that sets AVDH apart from the competition are on-site CT, ultrasound, endoscopes and laparoscopy capabilities. “The hospital’s state-of-the-art, on-site diagnostics are simply the best in the industry,” says Hurwitz. “This hospital is equipped and the staff is trained to diagnose and treat the most difficult cases. The burden of clients having to take time off work and make appointments at other veterinary hospitals hoping to get an accurate diagnosis and cure is a thing of the past. AVDH provides full-service medical care for your pet. Our clients don’t need to go anywhere else.”

For example, diarrhea and vomiting are common complaints in the pet world. “When I am presented with a dog that has diarrhea or intermittent vomiting, my ‘gall bladder disease’ flag goes up,” says Dr. Jeremy Varga. “This painful condition is not uncommon in dogs and can be treated quickly. A blood test and a quick ultrasound allow me to diagnose the disease. From there we move right to surgery. A sick dog can be well within hours.”

AVDH is one of the few hospitals in the country performing laparoscopic gall bladder removal. Dr. Barrett Donop and Dr. Varga conducted the first laparoscopic gall bladder removal at Texas A&M Teaching Hospital. Since then, the two doctors have been teaching other veterinarians across the state how to identify and remove gall bladders.

AVDH’s commitment to animals goes beyond veterinary medicine. Since the creation of its adoption program Wags to Riches in 2008, the hospital has re-homed more than 55 dogs. Through the program each dog receives $500-$2,500 worth of medical care. AVDH has plated and pinned dogs’ legs and treated many, many dogs for heartworms, contusions and blood parasites. Additionally, each dog receives a “doggie dental,” full blood panel analysis, is spayed or neutered, and is micro-chipped. “This program is our way to support our community,” says Hurwitz.

The team at AVDH is proud of its accomplishments and grateful to clients for acknowledging their great experiences with the practice. “Our clients are sophisticated,” says Hurwitz. “They understand and appreciate the level of investment both in time and dollars that AVDH has placed in medical technology.”

More important, however, is the personal attention given to each and every patient, says Hurwitz. “Our dedicated doctors and highly skilled staff are passionate about veterinary medicine and pets, and it shows. Simply put, the animals love these doctors,” she says. “As we like to say, ‘If tails are waggin’, pets are braggin’.’ There are a lot of wagging tails at AVDH. Pets love it here.”
