A Wedding Planner in Los Angeles Gives Tips On Getting a Future Mother in Law Involved Wedding Plans

In a recent blog post, a wedding planner in the Los Angeles area, discusses the best way a bride can bond with their future mother-in-law. She gives excellent tips on how work together to make decisions while still taking control.

PRLog - Jan. 13, 2014 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- LOS ANGELES, CA – January 10, 2014 - Kim Ruha, a successful wedding planner in Los Angeles has seen many brides struggle with the challenge of involving their future mother-in-law in their wedding plans.  It is a constant balance of who should be making the final decision when it comes to reception venues, color themes, guest lists, etc.  In a recent blog post Ruha gives excellent tips on keeping a future mother-in-law involved.  She starts off by saying, “A, “Mother-in-Law” is the caring and excited mother of your spouse.  When it comes to including your future mother-in-law in your wedding plans, it’s really a matter of bonding with them and seeing things from their perspective. I view wedding preparations as an opportunity to bond with your future mother-in-law.”

One of the brilliant tips given in Kim Ruha’s blog post is, “Keep her in the e-loop.  Send your future mother-in-law updates via email, Facebook and other social media accounts.  You don’t have to go into a lot of detail with these updates, but give enough information to make her feel involved.  You can also send her pictures of recent decisions you have made.  For example, send her pictures of your wedding gown or food at your preferred venue.”

Next she explains, “Bring her to certain appointments.  There may be times when a vendor you are researching invites you to another wedding just for you to gauge his or her capability.  It’s more of a getting-to-know-you meeting with the vendor.  These occasions are perfect for you and your future mother-in-law to bond together. Be sure to make it a delightful evening for her with a dinner before or after your appointment.”

It is important not to forget that a wedding’s final decisions should be made the bride herself, but it doesn’t hurt to have some helpful input from the groom’s mother.  Kim Ruha of Memories by Design is an extremely successful wedding planner in Los Angeles (http://myelitewedding.com/simple/).  Her advice is crucial in order to plan a successful wedding.
