For the first time ever, Sunvil Holidays will be venturing into Turkey, with the option to combine two contrasting areas on one twin-centre holiday – thriving Kusadasi and little-known Akyaka together with Samos and a cluster of Dodecanese Islands.
Dudley der Parthog, Programme Director, comments: “Our 2014 Greece programme reflects Sunvil’s vast expertise in gathering together all that is great about Greece, including traditional, working villages that retain their authentic flavour, beautiful, mountainous inland areas, a wealth of ancient sites on the mainland and small – often owner-managed – cottages, apartments and hotels of character.
“This year, we’re pleased to announce a new small and carefully-selected programme in Turkey, offering an interesting twin-centre option with Greece. We’ve also introduced over 40 new properties, making the 2014 brochure our most comprehensive to date.
“In 2013, our customer satisfaction levels reached a new high, with 98% rating their Sunvil Greece holiday as excellent (72%) or good (26%). We’re aiming for even higher ratings in 2014.”
Kusadasi and Akyaka, Turkey
Two very different areas of Turkey’s scenic Aegean coast feature, primarily as a twin-centre option with Greece, enabling a cultural contrast on one holiday. Kusadasi, with its bustling bazaar and sandy beaches, offers a fantastic base for discovering the cultural and archaeological riches of Turkey’s west coast, including the world-class site of Ephesus. Single-centre prices start at £696 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B at the Bakkhos Hotel, return flights (Gatwick) and transfers. Kusadasi can be combined with Samos – prices for a two-week twin-centre holiday start at £887 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B at the Bakkhos Hotel, seven nights’ self-catering at the Anastasia Apartments in Samos, return flights (Gatwick) and all transfers.
Akyaka offers a completely different experience: lesser-known, it is a lush, natural paradise located at the head of Gokova Bay, and remains peaceful for much of the year. Here you can take small boat trips on the fast-flowing Asmak River and there is excellent walking and kite-surfing. Single-centre prices start at £629 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B at the Susam Hotel, return flights (Gatwick) and transfers. Akyaka can be combined with the Dodecanese Islands of Rhodes, Tilos, Symi, Halki or Karpathos – prices for a two-week twin-centre holiday start at £931 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B at the Susam Hotel, seven nights’ self-catering at the Marina Studios in Tilos, return flights (Gatwick) and all transfers.
Spetses, the Saronic isles
A retreat popular with well-heeled Greeks, Spetses boasts white-washed bougainvillea-
North Karpathos, Dodecanese Islands
Starkly beautiful, the vertiginous north of Karpathos is often overlooked in favour of the south. Here lies the historically isolated mountain village of Olymbos, where locals still wear colourful embroidered dress and speak an ancient dialect. The island has many virtues: wonderful white-sand beaches on the east coast, pretty villages in the foothills of Mount Kalilimni and peaceful resorts. Prices from £865 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ self-catering at the traditional Dorana Studios, located just 30 metres from the beach, return flights (Gatwick) and domestic flight/taxi transfers.
Named after the island’s most famous son, Pythagoras, and a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back to the 6th century BC, Pythagorion boasts a scenic harbour, narrow cobbled streets and ancient ruins on its outskirts. Prices from £612 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ self-catering at the quiet and spacious Dias Studios, return flights (Gatwick) and transfers.
Orloff boutique hotel, Hydra
Built over 200 years ago for a Russian count on the site of a nunnery, this carefully-converted boutique mansion property offers just nine characterful rooms. Prices from £853 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B, flights (Gatwick) and transfers.
Archontiko Hotel, Lemnos
A restored historic hotel in the heart of old Myrina with 13 rooms, this traditional property dates back to 1851 and is built in the Turkish style. Prices from £647 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B, flights (Gatwick) and transfers.
Over 40 new properties have been added for 2014, including beachfront apartments on Lemnos, Skopelos and Pelion, two boutique hotels on Crete and more harbourfront properties, including a villa on Halki, apartments on Symi and a hotel in Sivota, most with wide-ranging sea views.
The brochure lead-in price is £514 pp (including early booking discount) for seven nights’ self-catering at the Villa Olga in Aghios Gordis, Corfu, including return flights (Gatwick) and transfers, based on two sharing in May.
Says der Parthog: “It’s notable that, as a charter operator, our inclusive holiday prices offer much greater value – especially in peak season – than those of the ‘no-frills’
“Sunvil also offers a very-good-value flight-only service - call 020 8568 4499 or visit www.sunvilflights.com to book.”
