Invites Public to FREE Haiku Workshop at the
Morikami Museum & Jananese Gardens in Delray Beach
Thursday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m.

WHAT:

The Palm Beach Poetry Festival is hosting a FREE Haiku Workshop, in which participants will learn about the history and structure of Japanese poetry. The workshop will explore both classical haiku and modern variations. Participants will also be walk through the Morikami's beautiful gardens as they generate their own poems, which they will be invited to share at the end of the session.

WHO:
This fascinating overview of Japanese forms of poetry will be led by Yaddyra Peralta, whose work has appeared in Ploughshares, Jai-alai, Abe's Penny, Tigertail, The New Poet, Hinchas de Poesia and Lies and Truth, the poetry supplement to the Tabloid series accompanying Miami Art Museum's New Work Miami exhibition. She was a Writer-in-Residence at the Betsy Hotel's Writer's Room last August in South Miami Beach, and she has an MFA in creative writing from Florida International University.

NOTE:
While the Haiku Workship is free, people will have to pay the entrance fee to the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens.

About the Palm Beach Poetry Festival 2014:
The 10th annual Palm Beach Poetry Festival will be held January 20-25, 2014 at the Delray Beach Center for the Arts. The Festival will once again feature more than a dozen top poets at numerous ticketed public events, including readings, talks and a lively panel discussion.  In addition, participants in the festival’s nine poetry workshops will read at several open mics, free to the public.
