Proposals from qualified vendors will be accepted until February 28, 2014

SAGINAW, Mich. - Jan. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- MiCTA, a national non-profit technology consortium, and Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana have issued a Request For Proposals from qualified vendors of enterprise E-911 solutions. Vendors that wish to receive a copy of the RFP should contact MiCTA to request one immediately. The deadline to respond is February 28, 2014.

"E-911 compliance is real concern for our members," says Tim von Hoff, Chief Operating Officer of MiCTA. "Our members, particularly those with multiple buildings, residential buildings and multiple campuses that are served by a single phone system, require enhanced 911 location services," says von Hoff." According to von Hoff, liability issues could arise from situations where outdated or incomplete E-911 information actually delay or misdirect first responders to a public safety incident.

"Many of our members have multiple buildings on campus, but their older phone switches don't always relay precise location information for each of the member's active landlines. This could lead to delays in first response to emergency situations, especially when first responders are being dispatched from off-campus locations," says von Hoff. "Our RFP seeks reliable E-911 solutions that our members can implement easily and without the need to upgrade their entire phone systems."

For more information about the current RFP, or to request a copy, interested potential vendors should contact MiCTA through its website, at http://www.mictatech.org.
