Attorney Troy Bowlin Represents Victims in Jail Rape Lawsuit

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. - Jan. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- On January 8, 2014, Attorney Troy Bowlin of The Bowlin Law Firm filed suit against Grainger County, Grainger Sheriff Scott Layel, Grainger Chief Deputy Charles Biddle, Jessee Cummings, Bobby Owens and Brad Johnson. Attorney Bowlin represents three former female inmates of the detention facility who were allegedly raped and were coerced into other sexual activities by Mr. Cummings. The other facility supervisors are involved in the lawsuit for their potential involvement in allowing this activity to continue.

With the intention of protecting future inmates from experiencing this same treatment, The Bowlin Law Firm has filed this lawsuit. They attempted to first secure compensation from Grainer County for their clients for their injuries and for the facility so that they can make necessary improvements to their facility; however, Attorney Bowlin was told to “file suit.” They understand that the alleged individual involved in this act, Mr. Cummings, could face criminal conviction through this lawsuit. While they believe this is appropriate, they also believe that the three inmates should receive restitution beyond this.  They are seeking more than 100 million dollars.
