A few years ago, Dove and Stellar Award Winning Gospel Artist Helen Baylor announced that she had teamed up with filmmaker Cassandra Hollis to bring her life story to the big screen. The film, A Praying Grandmother:
The Helen Baylor Story, is in development and made the top 100 List of Most Searched Films on the CFDb (Christian Film Database) for 2013: http://www.christianfilmdatabase.com/
Largely based on her book, No Greater Love: The Helen Baylor Story
and her famous testimony as told in her hit song, “Helen’s Testimony,” Baylor is thrilled that the public is anticipating this dynamic project. “This is exciting. We’ve been fighting the good fight of faith and I am happy people are looking forward to the film, she said.
writer Cassandra Hollis agreed. “It was great to receive the news from CFDb that we made the list. The majority of the most searched films in their database are completed films that have already been in theaters or on Netflix or TV. We know in God’s timing the film will be released,” Hollis said.
The phrase, “I Had A Praying Grandmother,”
is recognized by Gospel music lovers all over the world. Helen Baylor celebrates 20 years since she first shared her testimony with a live audience during the taping of the album, “The Live Experience,”
in 1994. In it, she shares her story of overcoming sexual abuse, drug addiction, promiscuity and more because of her grandmother’
s prayers. Today, the song, is still played regularly on Gospel radio stations around the world.
