Emily Ellis-Liang, founder of the rePUBLIC of daNCe, states the focus for the organization: “The rePUBLIC of daNCe is an opportunity for young dancers to be exposed to a wide spectrum of opportunities and classes to better prepare them for college and for careers in dance. I embrace a students dreams, and will work to help them achieve those dreams to the best of my ability. Beyond the dance education, the organization will also work to provide leadership opportunities, to develop their voice (even if they dance it) and to participate in the betterment of the community by donating their time outside of the academy.”  In college, students take courses on the history, cultural context, and aesthetics of dance, in conjunction with anatomy, nutrition, and other subjects that foster healthy lifestyles for dancers.   The rePUBLIC of daNCe will provide this same concrete basics to help students comprehend why the fundamentals are so important to proper development and provide a strong foundation integral to their future growth.

The academy is working to kick-off the Fall 2014 semester with two courses: Choreography and Audition. Both programs are essential skills for dancers to acquire to be successful. For dance students, their college acceptance is dependant on these skills as part of the application process. The rePUBLIC of daNCe will prepare students so they are more sucessful.
