“We’re trying to change the way people think about working out,” says TapFit CEO Nick Cromydas. “Today there is a lot of friction in the fitness industry. Everything is based on monthly memberships, but monthly memberships are greatly underutilized. With TapFit, we want to empower individuals to work out on their own schedule, wherever they are. It’s like having your own personal fitness concierge.”

TapFit is attempting to redefine the way people work out by providing an awesome experience from start to finish. Download the app, choose a gym or studio nearby, and book a pass. When the customer gets to the gym, they simply show their TapFit pass and they’re good to go.
“When I worked in consulting, I was traveling three days a week, and it didn’t make sense for me to get an expensive gym membership. All I wanted to be able to do was drop in to a local gym and get a workout in,” says Cromydas. “With TapFit, that ideal becomes much closer to reality.”
TapFit recently graduated from the 2013 cohort at The Brandery, a startup incubator based in Cincinnati, OH. They have been piloting the program in Cincinnati for the past few months, with good results. Says Cromydas, “Gyms and studios love us because we bring them new customers and help them fill their classes. Consumers love us because they get to workout wherever and whenever they want. They don’t feel tied down to a membership and they get to mix it up with their workouts.”
