By: inRecruit South Jersey will induct a total of eight new members into its Basketball Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill. The Class of 2014 includes Joe Crispin (Pitman), Malik Allen (Shawnee), Ernest Turner (Sterling), LaMarr Greer (Middle Township), Cheryl Kulesa Clark (Gloucester Catholic), Michelle Maslowski (Williamstown) “It’s an absolute honor to be elected to the South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame. Some of my most fondest basketball memories are from my Shawnee High School days. This will certainly be one of my most cherished accolades.” said former Shawnee High School star Malik Allen. Malik Allen played for Shawnee High School (Medford, NJ) from 1992-1996 and remains one of the finest basketball players ever to come out of the South Jersey area. Malik was a Two-time South Jersey and Burlington County Player of the Year, named to various All-State teams and led Shawnee to three New Jersey Group IV state titles and four South Jersey Group IV championships . He was a Parade Magazine honorable mention All-America as a senior and remains the all time leading rebounder and shot blocker in Shawnee Basketball history. Malik graduated from Villanova University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. He was an All-Big East Second Team selection in his senior season after leading the Wildcats in scoring, rebounding and blocks. Malik is also a ten-year veteran of the National Basketball Association (NBA) where he played for the Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Bobcats, and Miami Heat. Following the NBA, Malik founded the dynamic sports recruiting network inRecruit which has been featured nationally by NBC Sports, ESPN TrueHoop and Comcast SportsNet and is widely adopted by colleges, youth athletes and parents worldwide.
