The song is now available for download on iTunes and at cdbaby.com, as well as through Ras D's own website, www.rasd1.com. It is the latest release by an artist who has devoted his musical career to preaching peace, love, respect and unity through his music.
"I'm very excited to be able to release this brand new song online," said Ras D. "It is my hope that this song will have an inspirational message for listeners across the globe to persevere through their difficult times and to be encouraged in their life's journey."
Ras D's love for reggae was fueled by the many hours spent as a child as a guest in the home of Peter Tosh of the Wailers. He also shares many of the same worldviews and musical styles as Tosh, which is evident in his music. "Survivah" promises to be a welcome new addition to his library for fans everywhere. It is especially meant for people currently undergoing major struggles in their life, which is why Ras D has dedicated the song to those in the military and to people battling cancer.
"The song is meant to be motivational for those who have hit rough patches in their life," said Ras D. "I hope that my music is able to bring them some small comfort as they fight their life's battles."
Ras D began writing and recording his own music at the age of 19. He released his debut album, Give Some Love Today, in September 2004, which included the song "September 11th," a tribute to those lives lost in the terrorist attacks of that day. He released his next album, Love with Meaning, in 2007. His latest album, Jah Reign, has enjoyed some significant success and shows Ras D's truly spiritual connection with his music.
