Alternet.org covers dramatic US Tax Court whistleblower case involving top political figures

"Why Is the IRS Fighting Efforts to Unmask Karl Rove and U.S. Chamber Political Money Laundering?" asks investigative reporter Steven Rosenfeld. "The IRS is fighting the whistleblower instead of pursuing the alleged criminals."

WASHINGTON - Jan. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Alternet.org, America's leading progressive press service, concluded a year of uncovering political scandal and repression with a lengthy article by contributing writer Steven Rosenfeld highlighting a controversial, even astounding whistleblower case in US Tax Court, Jacobson v. Commissioner of the IRS, USTC Docket No. 8447-13W.

The whistleblower-petitioner in the case, Dr. Robert Jacobson, alleges that one of the most brazen tax crimes in the nation's political history occurred in Shanghai in 2010, an overseas tax fraud that involved Karl Rove's closest friend and ally, the Chinese Government, then-Secretary of State HIllary Clinton, and elements of the IRS.

This fraud, Dr. Jacobson stated in a 2010 Complaint and alleges in the current court hearing, resulting in the transfer of tens of millions of tax-exempt dollars from a shell company to the a giant business-lobbying organization, ultimately resulting in the Republican Party's capture of the House of Representatives in that year's midterm elections.

But the American people may never learn the truth. The IRS, Rosenfeld reports, has moved to close the case even before informal discovery -- reviewing of basic evidence -- can take place.  Rosenfeld makes the argument that such bad-faith behavior is not only deleterious to the public interest and American taxpayers, but that also it betrays the IRS' servitude to political interests, influential taxpayers (especially corporations and political tax-exempts), and large law firms and legal insiders. The IRS' cynical twisting of the whistleblower law casts a shadow on the Tax Court, which so far has meakly acceded to past IRS kneecappings of whistleblowers.

After a well-detailed analysis of the case, Rosenfeld concludes:

“The most crucial aspect of this is the enforcement of laws that can prevent this from happening again," [says Jacobson}.  "Someone with principle" will have to "pivot" and take a stand to uphold the law. Since that’s not happening at the IRS, Jacobson is pinning his hopes on an as-yet-unnamed federal Tax Court judge.

“There is no money in this for me… only the pursuit of justice,” Jacobson claimed. “I want to see these creeps in prison. I want Hillary to answer for her role. I want the tax system to be reformed… Imagine, the IRS covering for felons, perjurers and transgressors of the U.S. Constitution. But it does and will continue to do so, unless the Tax Court flexes its independence and initiative.”
