Utah City Crits announces major changes for 2014

SALT LAKE CITY - Jan. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- RaceDay Event Management is excited to announce some major changes to the 2014 Utah City Crits. Now in its 5th year as a series, the decision has been made to move the event to a May date on the Utah Cycling Association racing calendar to allow the series to be the open events in the new Great Western Cycling Series.

The second major change is the addition of Bountiful Mazda http://www.Bountifulmazda.com as the title sponsor of the series. The series will now be known as the Bountiful Mazda Utah City Crits. Mike Macdonald, Owner of Bountiful Mazda commented that, “Bountiful Mazda is committed to growth of cycling in Utah and is dedicated to continuous support of racing events that benefit the cycling community in Utah.”

Dirk Cowley, the event’s organizer stated that, “Both of these changes are very positive for the series. With the addition of Bountiful Mazda we have a title sponsor that is very involved and supportive of cycling and has the same vision of the long term growth of this great series of events.”

Continuing with the comment, Cowley stated that, “As the opening group of events for the Great Western Cycling Series we will be able to reach out to not only the local riders but also regional and national cycling teams.

The Events schedule is as follows

May 9, 2014

Ogden

Held in downtown Ogden ‐ starting at 4:00 PM with the first of 5 races ‐ this will be a great venue for spectators.

May 10, 2014

Bountiful

The race will see the revitalized area of Bountiful. Main Street will see some fast action with a course that will suit the power riders. There will also be an all‐day expo as an added attraction. First race starts at 4:00 PM.

May 11, 2014

Salt Lake City

The final event of the Utah City Crits will occur around Pioneer Park. This venue has been a course that has been race every year for the past 12 years and has been a staple of the local racing scene. Racing starts at 10:00 AM.
