Just about 3 minutes from home is the Monticello Village Shopping Center where we frequently enjoy the exceptional Mahi Mahi Tacos at Twisted Fresh--they're heaping with fresh ingredients and are the best fish tacos around (for real!). When we're hankering for something sweet in the morning, we stop by Barb's Kolache Bakery to pick up a few sweet bread pastries that are baked fresh daily--the blueberry danish melt-a-ways cannot be beat! It is nice to have a true made-from-scratch bakery just around the corner. Monticello Village Shopping Center also offers up several pizza options, dry cleaners, a US Post Office, Starbucks, and Price Chopper, which recently underwent a total renovation that updated the store and expanded its natural and organics sections.

If you're wishing to go beyond the local shopping center, more shopping is a matter of minutes away. Highway access is close and convenient and allows you to hit a variety of destinations--Town Center Plaza in Leawood KS, Country Club Plaza in Kansas City MO, etc.--in a matter of minutes.

EDUCATION

There are a host of educational options close to our home--there are a variety of preschools, the local public elementary and middle schools are within a couple miles of our home, and there are several private schools very close by.

OUR HOME

Between the three floors, there is plenty of room for an active, growing family. The open kitchen and large granite island are a gathering place for my family when I'm preparing supper or baking-up something sweet. The large island offers plenty of space for prepping, serving and enjoying meals. The double ovens are invaluable when preparing holiday meals. When we host friends and family, there is plenty of entertaining space on the main floor and in the finished entertainment basement--even when we have large groups of people visit us, we don't feel crowded.

Watching movies and listening to music is always enjoyable because three rooms are wired for surround sound.

ENJOYING THE OUTDOORS

The large yard is a treat! It's definitely on the larger side of what you will typically find in a subdivision and it provides plenty of space for children to run around and play, while also providing ample room for gardening and other outdoor activities.

The addition of the patio and built-in fireplace has increased the amount of time we spend enjoying the outdoors. After you're done barbecuing on the grill, you can sit around the fireplace while the kids play and then roast marshmallows when they've worked-up an appetite for dessert. Also, the fully fenced backyard helps provide peace of mind for the safety of your children and pets. The neighborhood as a whole is very quiet and peaceful--it has a very rural feeling but is very close to amenities.
