Those who pre-ordered the physical media should receive their orders 1-2 days ahead of the Gigastrand OS download scheduled for Saturday. Those who supported the Indiegogo project will get their order an unprecedented 3 months ahead of the promised March 2014 shipment date.
"This was by design," says Founder and CEO Josh Tordsen. "We wanted to reward those who ordered physical media because they are likely the target audience for this OS."
Mr. Tordsen acknowleges the fact that may make more advanced Linux users upset as they are more likely to download the OS to try it out.
"The ISO download will be available shortly after midnight on the 4th for free so nobody is being punished here. If there is enough time, we may even roll in some software updates in the download that didn't make it into the disc version."
The Gigastrand OS can currently be purchased in single-disc form, as a retail box with additional features, and as a part of a Gigastrand PC. Additional products based on the Gigastrand OS are currently in development.
