Evan Guthrie Law Firm Gives Back With Estate Planning And Wills To Dorchester County SC Church

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Dec. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina volunteered to help provide estate planning to members of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church at a wills clinic in St. George, SC on Saturday July 13^th 2013. The event was sponsored by the Center for Heirs Property Preservation in Charleston, SC to help keep at risk property in the hands of family members. Heirs property occurs when an original land owner dies and does not have a will and the estate is not properly administered through the probate court leaving the title to the property in the name of many living relatives. There may be a long and complicated legal process of tracing family trees and many court proceedings to get title back into the name of one person. To help counteract this potential problem in the first place it is important to have a last will and testament in place to aid in the passing down of land from one family member to another. The Center for Heirs Property Preservation puts on many will clinics a year throughout the Lowcountry and coastal regions of South Carolina to do a part in preventing and raising awareness of heirs property.

Attorney Evan Guthrie and several lawyers and law students from throughout the state lent their times and talents to the wills clinic in Dorchester County. Mr. Guthrie was able to help draft several wills for the participants that took part in the event. The testators that executed their wills that day were able to leave the event with fully completed estate planning documents that were notarized and double checked.

Attorney Evan Guthrie has been able to take part in several wills clinics for the Center for Heirs Property Preservation throughout the years in such locations as St. George, Edisto Island, and Mt. Pleasant, SC. Mr. Guthrie was joined at the event by his paralegal intern, Nicole Stoudemire, who helped to interview clients, observe, and draft the wills. Attorney Guthrie enjoyed his time at the event and having the opportunity to give back to the community in one of his main areas of legal practice.
