2014 Swyers Publishing Short Story Contest

Dec. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Dacula, GA - Swyers Publishing Short Story Anthology, Volume One:

If you would like to be a part of this Anthology, please read Submission Guidelines & Rules (http://www.swyerspublishing.com/shortstorytc.php) carefully then follow the submission process (http://www.swyerspublishing.com/submitshortstory.php). By submitting your short story for consideration you are agreeing to the terms spelled out in the "Guidelines & Rules" (http://www.swyerspublishing.com/shortstorytc.php) section.

Here's how our anthologies work:

As a small, independent publisher, we wanted to find a way to help young up and coming authors get their work into print. Having walked the long, and often arduous road of getting something published, we feel the pain of those who want to see something they have written in printed form. The publishing world of today may be viewed as hostile and even impossible to break into. Now we can provide an avenue for aspiring authors to get some name recognition and even purchase some books at cost for re-sale.

What's in it for us?

We get the pleasure of helping out talented young authors and we make a small portion of our costs back off each book sold on-line through Amazon or Smashwords. This allows us to recoup our production costs. The contest also allows us an opportunity to help authors with NO upfront cost to them which helps us build a reputation as a trustworthy publisher.

What's in it for the authors?

They may purchase (at our cost to produce, plus shipping) as many copies as they like directly from us, then re-sell these and make money off of them. Authors will have in their hands, a printed, professional collection of their own and others' work to share and sell.

How does it work?

We are currently searching for the best of the best from aspiring authors. By going to SwyersPublishing.com, anyone can submit their short stories (up to 4 per person) for consideration in the anthology. Go to "authors and projects" tab. Then go to "short story contest" tab. You will be asked to view the rules and guidelines and then to electronically submit your stories. ALL entries will be viewed and seriously considered for inclusion, however, it is ultimately up to our discretion on which ones we feel are the right ones to be included. The authors will be contacted and informed as to whether or not their story or stories have been chosen for inclusion by mid-May, 2014 (at the latest). Chosen authors will be posted on the website. The anthology is set to be printed in the Summer of 2014, and the deadline for submissions is April 1st, 2014. Authors retain the rights to their works, so they can print or sell them elsewhere at any time. (We have non-exclusive rights to publish this once.)
