Erwin Braich prevails yet again versus the Canadian Government

Erwin Singh Braich, 58, one of the world's 50 wealthiest people and North America's first Sikh Billionaire, says that the government's admission of many years of harassment against him underscores his already compelling legal battle.

Dec. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Vancouver - In a letter dated November 28th, 2013, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada stated that - "Although the Crown is not obligated to provide reasons.....I can advise you that I have determined there is no longer a reasonable prospect of conviction".

This is actually the second time in this past decade that the Crown has abandoned trumped up charges on the eve of a multitude of witnesses - hostile and friendly - being hauled in, by Braich, to testify under oath. Braich has been unjustly forced to live with a cloud hanging over his head, among other atrocities, for over a decade due to the government's repeated misconduct.

When asked for comment, lawyer Jamshed Mistry said he considers Braich's story one of the most egregious violations of a person's civil rights that he has ever seen. "In all of my years of practicing law I have never seen a prosecutor go out of their way to state that 'there is no longer a reasonable prospect of conviction' especially when abandoning a high profile case such as this. It seems to me that it was an apology of sorts to Mr. Braich".

"I look forward to meeting Mr. Braich, face to face, in the United States, in the very near future, to consult with our legal team on how to move forward, now that he is not subject to the draconian restrictions that were placed upon him by the Canadian government, one of which prevented him from traveling internationally" added Mistry.

When asked for his comments Mr. Braich stated, "I am very thankful that someone within the government had the good sense to finally take initiative by doing the right thing and tell the truth. Unbelievable as it sounds - at one point, I was not allowed to travel outside British Columbia without seeking permission from the court.  This malicious activity hurt me in countless ways".

"My legal team will continue to vigorously pursue the lawsuit which I have already filed and served on the Public Prosecution Service of Canada and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police". added Braich.

In the lawsuit that Braich has filed, he alleges that the damages he suffered may well exceed $17 billion.

Mistry further went on to state that, "After the Canadian prosecutor's admission that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction, the government agencies named as Defendants are clearly guilty of the misconduct as alleged by Mr. Braich. All he has to do now is demonstrate, in the governing jurisdictions, that he has indeed suffered damages. It is not a matter of 'IF', it is a matter of 'WHEN' the government has to pay, and how much".

"One must also keep in mind that Mr. Braich has the ability to amend his lawsuit and to add more Defendants, as more evidence is produced through the due process that is afforded to Plaintiffs".

"I have visited my client many times, when I have flown to Canada, and personally reviewed irrefutable evidence. It is simply amazing how Mr. Braich has grown his asset base, controlled through trusts, by tens of billions within the United States of America while never being allowed to set foot in that country since December, 2009.  I am purposely not mentioning other activity on other continents. This surely must lend new meaning to the phrases 'below the radar' or 'under their noses' ".

Braich went on to add that he, along with many of his targeted associates, have suffered a great deal of hardship; some of which may have been and continue today, likely because they uncovered what could be the largest income tax fraud in the history of Canada.

"We believe the fear that some guilty parties, that are still operating from the shadows, have of being exposed has driven them to commit crimes that are too many to list. What the guilty parties have done has not just harmed myself, and some of my associates, but has cost decent and hard-working Canadian taxpayers billions of dollars." said Braich.
