Dec. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Castle Rock, CO – Dec. 27, 2013 - Zonta Club of Douglas County (http://zontadouglascounty.org) announced today results from the Empty Shoes: Zonta Says No to Violence (http://zontadistrict12.org/ZontaSaysNo/) event held last month at the McNichols Civic Center in Denver. The Castle Rock-based community fundraising organization, in partnership with Zonta clubs of Metro Denver raised close to $17,000 to benefit the international campaign “Zonta Says No to Violence.”

With nearly 200 Zontians and friends of Zonta in attendance, the Empty Shoes event displayed art from local artists available for purchase and an empty shoe display to represent the sheer number of people affected by domestic violence.  Other local nonprofits with similar missions also participated.

“Our organization is thrilled to be a part of a bigger picture through Zonta International’s push to end violence against women,” explained Rhonda Bolich-Lampo, president of the Zonta Club of Douglas County. “There is no better purpose for coming together with likeminded Zontians and friends than to raise awareness of our mission. It is a focus so timely and critical, and we are thankful for the showing of support at this event.”

“Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women” is a worldwide campaign of Zonta International and is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to end violence against women. Several events that occurred worldwide in November and December 2013 illustrated the collective commitment of Zonta’s nearly 33,000 members in 68 countries to preventing and ending violence against women and girls.
