CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dec. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- CHARLOTTE, NC (December, 2013) --- Author and ACSM Certified Group Exercise Instructor, Tamara Jackson was inspired to write 265 Point after reviewing the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s alarming statistic that four out of five African American women are obese or overweight.  “Enough is enough with this idea that life as a BBW is wonderful—it is not.  We have a health problem in this country and glamorizing obesity by using terms like Big Beautiful Woman is a part of the problem. This acceptance is having major impact on the African American community by creating higher risks for serious disease and illness, as well as early death---I’m determined to turn this thing around and am asking all African American women to join me.”

The book “265 Point” is the heart-wrenching account of how Tamara reached 265 pounds and what drove her to her turning point - her doctor’s warning that disease and illness were eminent, or worse.   Tamara knew that “worse” meant death.  Tamara then made some changes, big changes, and transformed from a couch potato to a role model. Once a guest on the demonstration floor of the Dr. Oz show, Tamara Jackson, is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine and now serves as mentor for millions of African American women who are ready to change their life.

265 Point is part biography, part motivation, and part health and fitness handbook designed to guide the reader in areas such as food selection and exercise. 265 Point educates the reader on how daily food and exercise choices determined their current weight and clearly outlines the changes required to reach their goals.

Tamara Jackson has introduced a global membership website  for women wanting to lose 30 pounds or more.  Realizing that maintaining a healthy weight entails far more than fitness and diet, Tamara delves into the emotional side effects of obesity and being overweight.  “In addition to the sluggishness and depression that often accompanies a poor diet and lack of exercise, there is the struggle with family and friends who -intentionally or unintentionally - sabotage your efforts when you decide to change your habits.  This is a major obstacle in succeeding—we all know that support and encouragement are crucial in this challenge of fitness—and at 265 Point we’re determined to be that support group - be it online, Skype, text messaging, emails—whatever it takes to turn this around for African American women. No one has to go it alone. Together, we will conquer the challenges and celebrate the victories” says Tamara Jackson.
