Walters Homes Sees Buyer Confidence Build as Market Improves

Dec. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- BARNEGAT, N.J. - Sales traffic at Walters Homes developments is up, and buyers are more eager to commit compared to a year ago, according to Pamela Schuster, marketing and sales manager for Walters Homes.

"We're also seeing people sell their homes more quickly, which is creating urgency in the market. It's definitely a sign that the market is improving," said Schuster. "One of the factors driving sales is that prices are going up and buyers want to jump into the market while mortgage rates are still good. Uncertain buyers who were sitting on the sidelines want to get in before the rates get too much higher."

Evidence of a nationwide housing recovery was also reported by the Census Bureau whose data revealed that sales of new single-family houses in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 444,000. This represents a 21.6% increase above the October 2012 estimate of 365,000. And in most of the country, home prices continue to see double-digit year-over-year gains, according to the National Association of Realtors.


All three of Walters Homes' residential communities - Whispering Hills Townhouses, Whispering Hills Single-Family and Ocean Acres at Barnegat - are experiencing improved traffic and sales. Buyers looking to downsize and first-timers are specifically attracted to the LEED-certified townhomes, which offer competitive pricing and eco-friendly amenities. Priced from $231,185, they include three bedrooms, two-and-one-half baths, and between 2,105 square feet and 2,191 square feet of living space. Only 19 units in three buildings remain to be built where two of the four models are offered - Meadow and Willow. As an added incentive, Walters is offering buyers free full-finished basements with half baths.

Activity levels are up at Walters Homes' Whispering Hills Single-Family where construction is underway on several houses as well as a model home and sales office. Highlighting Walters' newest design, the four-bedroom Chelsea model will be fully furnished and open for tours in May 2014. Prospective buyers can choose from nine modern designs including the popular Westbrook Ranch, offering 1,745 square feet of living space. Located on Rose Hill Road and Emerson Lane, the eco-friendly community borders a 28-acre natural tree preservation area and the Barnegat Branch Rail Trail Bikeway.

At the large-scale Ocean Acres at Barnegat development, three- and four-bedroom single-family homes are offered, ranging from 1,500 to 3,100 square feet of living space. Ranch- and colonial-style floor plans are available, starting at $249,695.

Green amenities at all three residential developments by Walters Homes are also   driving sales. Since newer homes perform better from an energy-efficiency standpoint, buyers can save money with the Energy-Star appliances, energy-efficient lighting and high-efficiency heating, cooling, and hot water heater equipment. These eco-friendly features make a home healthier and save residents 30% to 35% on their energy bills, according to Walters Homes.

"Our customers are finding that their monthly expenses are substantially lower than their previous homes," said Schuster, "especially at Whispering Hills Townhouses, which are registered with a certification goal of LEED-Silver."

"Overall, the housing market is showing encouraging signs," said Schuster. "We've seen interest rates start to rise this year, and I think the activity we've experienced so far bodes well for what 2014 is going to bring."
