PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 24, 2013 - A leading family law specialist at Miller Hendry in Tayside has indicated that there are clear warning signs that divorce rates are set to boom in 2014, as the economy makes more positive steps towards recovery and with the housing market  set to grow.

It is commonly acknowledged that January is the busiest month of the year for divorce lawyers, as the result of couples spending an intensive period of time with each other over the festive season, which in turn, often brings underlying problems to the surface, leading to a New Years’ resolution to separate.

However Miller Hendry’s website statistics for the months of November and December are already demonstrating a 57.5%, year on year increase in traffic to the Divorce section, indicating that January 2014 may indeed herald a new start for many couples….. but perhaps not the one they have planned.

Richard Frenz is a Law Society accredited specialist in family law at Miller Hendry. He commented:

“This is a very significant increase in the volume of traffic to our website from potential clients clearly seeking out information on separation and divorce before the extended festivities are upon us. There are a whole range of options and solutions for people unfortunate enough to find themselves in this situation, not least of all talking things through and trying to resolve their problems, perhaps with the help of trained mediators.

“However this is not for everyone and if a reconciliation is not on the cards then I strongly suggest that people seek expert legal advice from an experienced family law solicitor at the earliest opportunity so that they know where they stand, what they are entitled to and what they have to do next.

“The ability to separate quickly, with the least hassle, is often intrinsically linked to the sale of the family home, often the biggest realisable asset. With the property market showing definite signs of improvement this is likely to be a quicker process than it has been in recent years, and quite possibly those couples who’ve been putting off separating during the recession will feel spurred into action by the possibility that they can dispose of their home, more quickly than previously, and go their separate ways.”
