Sterling silver centerpiece bowl with hunt theme. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1869.

Ovoid bowl on waisted stem with beaded and raised foot, which in turn is mounted to oval base with 4 bracket supports.

Bowl has asymmetrical rim and engraved hunting scenes. Heraldic cartouche flanked by mounted fish trophies on front and back. Monopodia supports comprising dog’s (retriever’s) head terminating in hairy leg and paw. Loose rings pendant from dog collars. Bowl interior lightly gilt. A real showpiece. Perfect for hunting and fishing interiors. No pattern number – possibly a special commission. Hallmarked. Excellent condition with good patina.
