Follow on Google News | Thousands Flock To Dubai Christmas Festival To Meet Santa As The Snow Falls In The DesertThousands feel the festive fun thanks to ginger bread men, ice skating, snow ball fights and more at Dubai’s biggest Christmas celebration
By: Dubaicityinfo.com Representing a 21 per cent increase year on year, the huge increase in visitor numbers has been attributed to the introduction of new features to the show such as the popular snowball fight zone, the ice rink and a gingerbread house as well as the demand for children to meet Santa Claus in his grotto, take in the lights the Candelite Christmas Tree and enjoy a range of festive food and music. One of the biggest highlights this year was the introduction of the Peter Pan and Tinker Bell Pantomime performance presented by Lindt, which was a sell out on each day of the show. A classic British tradition, children of all ages were enthralled with the tale of the boy who never grows up starring alongside Tinker Bell and Captain Hook on stage. Chris Fountain, Managing Director of Turret Media, the organisers of Dubai Christmas Festival said: “Last year the buzz of Christmas was projected across the city and since then the Dubai Christmas Festival has gone from strength to strength with a host of additional festive features added and more than 100 exhibitors taking part. “It is great to see the event so warmly embraced by the Dubai community and gives us great momentum to continue our efforts in bringing them the best Christmas festival that we can. “We want to create unforgettable events for residents and visitors to Dubai and we believe a Christmas celebration, with snow in the air, in the middle of the desert is definitely one to remember.” This year’s event featured festive food from Cafe Habana, The Gramercy, The Cheesecake Factory and The French Bakery, while Christmas workshops were hosted by Crate and Barrel. The Christmas Market brought together a collection of global brands, local designers and artisans who sold their exclusive seasonal products, ideal for unique gifts on Christmas day. With help from DesertSnow™, suppliers to Hollywood and the world leaders in artificial snow and winter effects, the organisers of the event went all out to enhance that Christmassy feeling – visitors experienced incredible, realistic, falling snow over Dubai Media City. The Dubai Christmas Festival returns next December bringing the best of Christmas to the UAE.
