Goes to Florida Weekly & The Coastal Star


(Boca Raton, FL – December 19, 2014) Julie Mullen, president of the Gold Coast PR Council (GCPRC), the largest independent organization of public relations, marketing and communications professionals in South Florida, today announced the contenders for the organization’s 10th annual Bernays Awards.

"Named after the late Edward Bernays, the founder of the modern public relations industry, GCPRC honors local excellence in eight competitive categories,” said Mullen. “The organization also gives out the PR Star Award, the Founders Award, the Judges’ Award and the prestigious President’s Award, the only Bernays Award that we reveal in advance.”

GCPRC's President’s Award 2014 will go to Florida Weekly and The Coastal Star, two community-based publications that are thriving in today’s alleged “post-print” media environment. Previous winners of the President’s Award include Lynn University for successfully hosting the 2012 Presidential Debate, Forum Publications and Business Wire.

Gold Coast PR Council’s 10th annual Bernays Awards luncheon will be held on Friday, January 24, starting at 11:30 a.m., at the Boca Dunes Golf & Country Club, 1400 Country Club Drive in Boca Raton. The cost to attend is $40 for GCPRC members and $45 for nonmembers. Reservations can be taken at GCPRC@aol.com.
