MTAM Announces 2014 Statewide Advisory Council Chairs

Michigan’s mobile/wireless trade association, the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan, announces 2014 chairpersons for statewide advisory councils, along with launch of newest advisory council
DETROIT - Dec. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- The Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) is pleased to announce the launch of its ‘Mobile in Government’ statewide advisory council, as well as its 2014 chairpersons for all existing advisory councils.

Leading the recently launched ‘Mobile in Government’ advisory council will be James Hartley, CEO of Government Performance Solutions. Mr. Hartley began his career in the private sector providing investigative intelligence to the financial industry where as early as the 1990s he created innovative mobile solutions to enable his firm to more efficiently route and track field staff and to automate client reporting. He has spent the last five years in government service where he aided Michigan’s 3rd largest city in achieving aggressive performance and process improvement thru the implementation of data-driven PerformanceStat management methodologies which leveraged the power of mobile technology. Hartley’s rapid deployment of new technologies in several archaic and bureaucratic areas of government assisted local and regional leaders in improving service to citizens, and in successfully weathering the fiscal crisis and budgetary shortfalls that impacted local government over the past several years.

Commenting on his new role Hartley states, “It is critical for local, state and Federal government entities to understand the power that mobile/wireless technologies have in the ability to make their operations more productive and efficient, which ultimately enables them to maximize their use of our tax dollars and to streamline operations.” Hartley went on to say, “Government plays a significant role in the potential for growth of these technologies by instituting proper regulations, and it is our role to bring together policy makers to ensure legislators are effectively educated about all sides of any issue when they are faced with making those decisions. I am honored to help MTAM in these efforts.”

2014 Chairpersons have also been named for MTAM’s ‘mHealth Advisory Council’ and the ‘Mobile Security Advisory Council’.

Leading the ‘mHealth Advisory Council’ will be Rahul Mehta, MD. Dr. Mehta is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and Associate Medical Director at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac. He is also a partner in Independent Emergency Physicians, a multi-center emergency medicine group that staffs six Michigan hospitals. In his role as mHealth Advisory Council Chair, Dr. Mehta will also be MTAM’s official liaison with HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) as part of MTAM’s partnership with the global health IT non-profit with regard to mHealth initiatives.

Taking the Chairperson role of the ‘Mobile Security Advisory Council’ will be Duane Hopkins, Founder and Principal Security Consultant of Innovative Corporate Solutions. Mr. Hopkins is also a Professor of Computer Forensics at Eastern Michigan University’s National Security Agency (NSA) Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Program. He is a licensed Professional Investigator, and a security subject matter expert in the areas of Information Security Governance/Risk Management, Electronic Discovery and Computer Forensics.

Additional advisory councils being planned for 2014 launch include:  Mobile in Education, Re-shoring Mobile/Wireless Manufacturing, and several others.
