Sean Michael Hayes, internationally renowned action sports coach, turns to alternative funding sources to launch his career as a writer.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: San Diego, CA Dec 21, 2013 – Travel writer, Poet and Philosopher, Sean Hayes has turned to the Internet to raise funds for his latest creative project.  A former professional Skateboarder, he now coaches other top pro’s.  Besides being a mentor to the younger athletes he inspires, he has been creating amazing written works as he travels around the world.  What began as poems in his early twenties has developed into drafts of three different genres of books he plans to complete by June 9, 2014.

Many artists struggle financially in the early stages of their career.  Having people that support their artistic ability, especially in the infantile stages of their career, has long been a part of many author’s success.  Luckily in today’s technology driven world, writers have more ways to be innovative in their fundraising tactics than ever before.  With big publishing deals becoming harder to find, the indie writing and publishing community have embraced crowd-funding sites like Kickstarter.com.  Another benefit for artists is Amazon.com is Kickstarter’s merchant partner, which enables each project the ability to receive funds from anywhere in the world.

After following Kickstarter.com guidelines, creators have a set number of days to raise the full amount of their goal, or the project receives nothing.  Hayes’ unique Kickstarter campaign and the broad scope of his writing brought immediate support from the online media and social media hubs.  In only 12 hours Hayes project was 99% funded by 23 generous backers from all over the world and has now set his sights on self-publishing.

When asked why he chose Kickstarter, Hayes said, "It’s not just about the money for me, it’s really about using Kickstarter as a platform to bring attention to my books.  With Kickstarter they make it so easy to spread the word quickly to a lot of people online.  I can keep them updated on the status of the project while it’s live, and afterwards they will be able to follow my adventures on my website canadianhayes.com over the next few months as I finish writing and then self-publishing my books”.

He says he see’s the Internet as an amazing platform to bring awareness to an unknown writer like himself.  Even before the pubic has seen a single sentence from his anticipated upcoming releases his audience is beginning to grow. "Seeing the success of other projects on Kickstarter gave me the confidence to put my own creative project in the pubic eye.   I am very proud of the books I have written, now I just want to let more people know about what they can look forward to.” he stated.
