During the 4th Annual Leadership Summit held on November 12, 2013 Board members, executives from member companies and PQA staff met to share insights on the changing quality landscape and models of care. PQA is focused on developing and implementing meaningful medication measures, exploring pay-for-performance (P4P) models, and exchanging ideas with the organizations membership to help PQA advance its 3-year strategic plans and initiatives for the coming year.
The goal of this conference was to develop solutions to the challenge of meaningful patient engagement, to increase corporate-level participation in patient-reported outcomes and to discover how best to use the Patient Experience survey information in a meaningful way to address PQA’s goals.
“We have to do a better job of listening to patients’ stories and helping patients with the complexity of the health care decisions they have to make. The new models of healthcare have made it more complex to be a knowledgeable consumer.” – Linda M. Raileanu, RN, MM/ PA, BSN - President/ Chairperson of the Board/Co-Founder of SPHP.
Dialogue during the PQA conference also revealed that there are hundreds to thousands of patient advocacy groups across the country. The conference participants uncovered interest in having the PQA compile a list of these providers and determining ways to measure standards in this emerging field. SPHP is poised to help with this endeavor and has created standards to address the need for accreditation.
