Nissan Altima Achieves Top Safety Pick Distinction from IIHS | AutoCenters Nissan

Dec. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- WOOD RIVER, ILL.— The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently released their list of the vehicles to earn the distinction of Top Safety Pick for 2014, and the Nissan Altima was on the list!

The IIHS revised their criteria this year, making it more challenging for vehicles to earn the high safety ratings.

"We've made it more difficult for manufacturers this year," says IIHS President Adrian Lund. "Following a gradual phase-in, the small overlap crash is now part of our basic battery of tests, and good or acceptable performance should be part of every vehicle's safety credentials. We also felt it was time to offer extra recognition to manufacturers that are offering a proven crash avoidance technology."

The Nissan Altima was up to the test, earning the Top Safety Pick distinction in the category of midsize moderately priced cars.
