The big talk surrounding the 2016 Volt will is the inclusion of a 1.0L three-cylinder engine that will produce 115 hp and 122 lb-ft of torque that replaces the current 1.4L range-extending gas engine. The new three-cylinder engine is supposed to improve the vehicle’s efficiency as well as increase the car’s range. The next-generation Volt is predicted to deliver 50 to 60 miles per charge. The added range is supposed to be one of the major selling points of this Chevy Volt model.

Not only will the updated Chevrolet Volt offer an upgraded engine and improved range, this car is also expected to feature minor changes to the exterior. This next-gen model could employ a lightweight platform in addition to some sheetmetal changes that will assist in helping the Volt be more fuel efficient. There might also be some tweaks to the interior design of the vehicle as well.

Along with the Chevrolet Volt, a second electric vehicle is expected to make its debut for General Motors. As of now, it is unknown if this will actually be a Chevy model. The price of this unknown vehicle is expected to be $30,000, which is what is expected for the Volt. This other new EV is expected to offer a 200 mile all-electric range, allowing it to go head-to-head with the Tesla S model.
