Dec. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Housebuilder Larkfleet Homes (www.larkfleethomes.co.uk), part of the Larkfleet Group (www.larkfleetgroup.co.uk), has helped Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy to raise money for an impoverished community in Nyansakia, Kenya.

Each year, Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy holds a ‘Nyansakia Day’ for local group Friends of Nyansakia (www.nyansakia.org) during which pupils take part in fundraising activities. This year one of the activities included producing drawings, sculptures and other art.

The artwork produced by the pupils formed a public exhibition hosted by Larkfleet Homes at its Abbeyfields showhome on Spalding Road in Bourne, Lincolnshire, earlier this year.

Members of the public were invited to visit the Abbeyfields showhome and vote for their favourite piece of art – over 100 were displayed in total – and for every vote cast, Larkfleet donated £1 to the Friends of Nyansakia.

All proceeds from ‘Nyansakia Day’ at the local school were added to Larkfleet’s contribution following the art exhibition. In total the Bourne school and Larkfleet raised £840.

Larkfleet marketing director Helen Jones visited the school for a special assembly in which she presented Larkfleet’s contribution to Friends of Nyansakia treasurer Terry Westwood and handed out prizes to three pupils who produced the artwork that received the most votes from the public.

One part of the Kenyan community for which the Friends of Nyansakia raises money is the primary school which has approximately 1,000 pupils. The £840 raised by Larkfleet and Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy will go directly to the Kenyan primary school.

This is not the first time Larkfleet has worked with the school to raise funds for Friends of Nyansakia. Over the Easter holidays earlier this year, Larkfleet organised a special ‘Easter egg hunt’ around its Abbeyfields showhome for all pupils at the Bourne school.

In total, Larkfleet donated £120 to the Friends of Nyansakia following the Easter egg hunt which also went directly to the primary school in Kenya. The donation was enough to provide 48 Kenyan school children with a school dinner for an entire month.

Larkfleet Homes managing director Karl Hick said: “It is a pleasure to once again help this excellent local school raise funds for the community of Nyansakia. The artwork produced by the pupils was of a very high quality. I hope that Larkfleet and the school have the opportunity to work together again in the future.”

Abbeyfields, located on the old Co-op site on Manning Road in Bourne, comprises two and three bedroom properties.

Properties at Abbeyfields are perfect not only for first-time buyers but also for buyers who are looking to downsize and young families looking for a high quality new home.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels can be fitted to properties at Abbeyfields as ‘an extra’ so homebuyers can benefit from reduced energy bills as well as generating additional revenue from the government’s Feed in Tariff. The PV panels will produce electricity from daylight, generating useable power even on cloudy days.

The government’s Help to Buy scheme is available at Abbeyfields so homebuyers could potentially own 100 per cent of a new home with just a 75 per cent mortgage and 5 per cent deposit.

With the new scheme, after homebuyers have provided a five per cent deposit and obtained a conventional mortgage for just 75 per cent of the purchase price, they will receive an equity loan from the government for the remaining 20 per cent (subject to approval). The equity loan is interest free for five years and can be repaid at any time or on the sale of the home.
