LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Dec. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- The Louisville Sports Commission is a non-profit organization that works to bring major sporting events to the city of Louisville. This provides great opportunities for Louisville-area residents to enjoy a wide variety of activities for healthier living. It also serves as an excellent source of revenue and visitor promotion for the region. Since 2006, sporting events have contributed close to $300 million to the economy in Louisville, according to the Louisville Sports Commission (for info, see: http://www.louisvillesports.org).

Recently the Louisville Sports Commission reached an exciting agreement for Louisville to host several different National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships. In 2014, Louisville will host the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for both men and women.  Talented college cross country runners and their coaches from all over the U.S. will enjoy a visit to Louisville. Current national top ten teams for NCAA Division II Cross Country include Adams State, Chico State, and Western State.

Louisville will also host the NCAA Division II soccer championships for both men and women in 2014. Southern New Hampshire, Lindenwood, Young Harris, and Rollins are some of current top teams for the men's NCAA Division II Soccer. Current college leaders in women’s NCAA Division II Soccer include Grand Valley State, West Florida, and Western Washington.

For women only, Louisville will also host the 2014 NCAA Division II Field Hockey and Volleyball Championships. Colleges topping off current Division II Field Hockey rankings include Shippensburg, Millersville, and LIU Post. When it comes to NCAA Division II Volleyball, Concordia-St. Paul, Tampa, and BYU-Hawaii are some leading teams to watch.

Wondering about future years? Arrangements have already been made for Louisville to host the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in 2016 and the following year Louisville will host the Division I Cross Country Championships. Moreover, in 2017, Louisville will be the place to be for NCAA field hockey players as the city will host the NCAA Division I, II, and III Field Hockey Championships!

As host to numerous NCAA championships in sports that include Soccer, Cross Country, Field Hockey, and Volleyball, Louisville will have the opportunity to showcase the city to thousands of active, sports-minded visitors, while also treating Louisville-area residents to some fantastic athletic events.
