Noted Long-Term Care Expert Brenda Klütz to Serve as LeadingAge California Consultant

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 17, 2013 - Sacramento, CA - Brenda Klütz will be joining LeadingAge California’s public policy team in January to support the association’s public policy efforts in the health policy area, primarily focusing on skilled nursing issues. In her role as Policy Consultant, Klütz will bring her considerable experience related to aging, healthcare and long-term care to assist the association’s members with regulatory issues, providing education, and helping to shape the association’s policy initiatives related to skilled nursing.

“I’m so pleased to serve as a policy resource for LeadingAge California’s leadership, membership and staff,” said Klütz.  “I’m deeply committed to supporting the advancement of quality housing and services for older adults to meet the changing needs of LeadingAge California’s clients and communities.”

Klütz is the former Deputy Director of Licensing and Certification at the Department of Public Health and has worked with many LeadingAge California members in that capacity. While at Licensing and Certification she was responsible for enforcing the state licensing and federal certification standards for more than 6,000 health facilities, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and others. She was responsible for the management of over 1,000 state employees and contractors throughout the state. Prior to leading Licensing and Certification, Klütz served as Principal Consultant to the California Senate Subcommittee on Aging and Long-Term Care and as Senior Consultant to the Assembly Committee on Aging.

“We are delighted to bring aboard someone with Brenda’s considerable background and expertise in long-term care,” said Joanne Handy, LeadingAge President and CEO. “We are confident that our members will benefit tremendously from her guidance and support.”
