Chief Master Sergeant Scott Padron Takes Command of Cadets

DANBURY, CT – Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Scott Padron assumed command of Civil Air Patrol’s 399th Danbury Composite Squadron cadets at the unit’s Change of Command and Awards Ceremony held on November 26, 2013.

Cadet Commander Padron joined Civil Air Patrol in June 2011. “I was, and still am, interested in pretty much anything that flies. It was at first all about the flying for me, however in my time in CAP I have learned at least as much about leadership and management,” said Padron.

Previous positions held by Padron that helped to prepare him for his current appointment include flight sergeant and first sergeant. He also noted, “I’ve participated in a basic encampment, the Rhode Island Search and Rescue program, and most recently, National Glider Flight Academy.”

Cadet Padron’s Civil Air Patrol achievements include completing Ground Team Member 3 qualifications, carrying the national colors on the squadron color guard team, and pre-soloing in an L-23 glider from the United States Air Force Academy.

Asked what his objectives are for the squadron Padron said, “My goals for the squadron center around organization and improved cadet communication. Once we have these basics, we can focus on the technical details such as uniforms and drill. I also would like to get more O-Flights scheduled as they become available, because they are by far the best privilege we get as cadets. This will also boost our cadet membership, because very few cadets who have flown leave the program.”
