Private Property Condemned for Governmental Use
Partners Charles Pursley Jr. and Christian Torgrimson represent private property owners when their property is condemned for governmental use. Torgrimson secured compensation for damages to an easement owned by a telecommunications tower in a condemnation action in which no money was offered to the tower owner. Torgrimson also recently settled a condemnation case involving the taking and damaging of three separate commercial parcels for two-and-a-half times the original offer.

Pursley, who has been included among The Best Lawyers in America for eminent domain and condemnation law (2014), recently settled a condemnation case involving the partial taking of a vacant commercial property for five times higher (500 percent more) than the original offer. He also settled a condemnation case involving the taking of sewer easements through vacant commercial property for more than double the condemnor’s last offer.

Workouts/Recoveries with Financial Lending Institutions
The real estate transactions team, lead by Partner Stephanie Friese, works with lending institutions of all sizes that require representation related to closings and acquisitions as well as workouts and foreclosures. Stephanie Friese, Attorney Jim Friese and Attorney Christine Norstadt recently won a $3.8M summary judgment against a borrower under a promissory note.

Stephanie Friese, Jim Friese, Norstadt and Attorney Angela Robinson won a judgment for more than $3.4M against three defendants for four separate promissory notes.

Norstadt won a judgment in excess of $550K in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia against a borrower under a promissory note.

Also, Stephanie Friese and Attorney Monica Owens recently collected a $1.6M post-judgment for a receiver against a borrower under a promissory note.

Injuries Related to Leased Premises
Owens, who was named this month to the board of directors for the National Black Arts Festival, works with a variety of businesses including landlords and tenants. She won a full dismissal of all claims against a landlord client in personal injury lawsuits involving the leased premises.

Real Estate Purchases/Transactions
Pursley Friese Torgrimson works closely with real estate developers and investors to maximize return on investment through fair market value in matters of property acquisition, land use and purchase. A regional real estate investor worked with Norstadt to purchase two multi-million dollar apartment complexes with more than 600 units.
