ATLANTA - Dec. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- GeniusCorps (http://gc-usa.com/) , a conduit for innovators to enrich their lifestyles and initiatives through access to groundbreaking people, places, and knowledge has launched their #25toAfrica crowdfunding campaign today. An extension of their Geeks Gone Global project, the campaign aims to raise $150k to cover the travel expenses of 25 extraordinary female thought-leaders for a 4-country tour exploring innovation eco-systems across Africa.

Over the course of the 2-week excursion the women will be visiting technology hubs and startups throughout Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya including Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, Hub Accra, Hub Johannesburg and iHub Nairobi. The group will also host a series of pitch parties and mentorship-focused service projects before concluding the experience at the Sankalp Forum, the world's largest social entrepreneurship conference. The Excursion will be hosted in affiliation with Gray Matters Capital, Gray Ghost Ventures, The Intellecap initiative, Georgia Tech, Startup Weekend and Africa Atlanta 2014. Attendees of the trip include developers, engineers, executives, social entrepreneurs, authors, marketers, angel investors and more.

GeniusCorps’ 43 day crowdfunding campaign is aimed at collectively benefitting each of the 25 staff- picked honorees. Friends, family and supporters of the accomplished group will have the opportunity to contribute donations to directly cover the accommodation, transportation and airfare costs of attendees. The #25toAfrica campaign will be the first project launched under Geeks Gone Global’s new crowdfunding channel which allows future GeniusCorps travelers to raise money to cover the cost of their excursions. The organization has 27 upcoming trips expanding over 180 countries over the next 2 years.
