Ooh-la-la

Named for the French word meaning “beautiful mount” because of its hilltop location, Beaumont Inn is set amidst 33 acres of centuries-old forest trees, its antiques-laden guestrooms – including those with two-person whirlpool bath and fireplace – tucked among four buildings.

On Fri., Feb. 14, enjoy a four-course prix-fixe dinner in the linen-draped Main Dining Room, where guests are still summoned by the ringing of the traditional dinner bell. The menu includes several choices for each course, plus a glass of sparkling wine with dessert ($65/person). A new offering is the innkeeper’s personalized bourbon tasting ($35-$55/per person), with Dixon Dedman guiding guests through the taste profiles, history and nuances of up to six Kentucky bourbons in the leather chair comfort of a tasting room off the inn’s Old Owl Tavern. (Offered Saturday only during Valentine’s Day Weekend.) Room rates from $145-$220/night, which includes a full Southern breakfast.

At the inn’s Kentucky Spa in Bell Cottage, guests may partake of a number of tension-melting therapies, including a couples massage, a warming and relaxing hot stone massage and a head-to-toe Serenity massage. The gift shop features “Kentucky Crafted” artisan items, including Raku horsehair pottery from Columbia and Philpot Ky., and beautiful wooden boxes from Kettle, Ky.
