TOTTENHAM, U.K. - Dec. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- After sensationally sacking Andre Villas-Boas yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur have moved quickly in appointing their ex player and captain Tim Sherwood as interim manager. The former Blackburn Premiership winning captain is favourite to get the job on a permanent basis with the bookies according to independent price comparison website easyodds.com.

Editor Simon Hopper said: “Tim Sherwood has been promoted from within the club and it’s been rumoured that he will get a few games to prove he has what it takes. That’s why the bookies are keeping him on side at a best price of 11/4.”

As a player, Sherwood almost made 100 league appearances for the White Hart Lane club and it is hoped that he will have the fans backing. For most of this current season, there has been disquiet from Spurs fans about the style of play and lack of goal action under AVB, so Sherwood – who was fulfilling the duty of being the club's technical co-ordinator, before his new appointment, will hope to buck that trend.

If Sherwood’s interim term in charge proves unsuccessful, there are plenty of other options available to chairman Daniel Levy, and easyodds.com has betting odds on over 80 potential candidates.Tottenham are currently in seventh place in the Premier League – eight points behind the leaders and north London rivals Arsenal but are into the last 32 of the Europa League, so this managerial vacancy is a very attractive one. But who is in the running?

Second in the betting market is Swansea manager Michael Laudrup (6/1), who in just under 80 games in charge of the Swans has won a League Cup, guided them to the last 32 in the Europa League and maintained a top half Premier League spot. This has been accomplished largely by the squad abiding by his passing and possession based game. He fits the mould of a Tottenham boss and looks a likely candidate.

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle (6/1) – who has previously played for and managed the club is a surprise joint-second in the betting market. Hugely popular at White Hart Lane, it is plausible he would take the hot-seat but the fact he hasn’t managed at all since he left Wolves back in the summer of 2006 may go against him.

Former England boss Fabio Capello was initially installed as favourite for the job by the bookies, but has since drifted out to 10/1. He is currently in charge of the Russian national team and as this is a World Cup year, the likelihood of him balancing club and international management seems slim.

Other managers who are current possibilities include Ronald De Boer (16/1) who is doing outstanding things at Ajax, Mauricio Pochettino (16/1) whose pressing game has proved so effective at Southampton and Gianfranco Zola (20/1) whose resignation at Watford yesterday began a few Tottenham based rumours.

Perhaps most intriguingly of all is Andre Villas Boas’ predecessor Harry Redknapp – who is currently leading the Championship with his QPR side. Tottenham fans have long been enamoured with their former boss and he is widely available at 33/1 – although Stan James are currently offering 66/1. Would Daniel Levy hurt his pride by employing the manager he axed a mere 18 months ago?

All managers in the market have been priced up in and easyodds.com allows you to find the best betting value on each of them.
