Carrie’s TOUCH, Inc. Launches 2nd Edition Exposed! Breast Cancer Survivor Calendar

Provocative annual calendar celebrates the beauty and resilience of women post breast cancer treatment in glossy wall calendar sold across the world

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Sacramento based breast cancer organization Carrie’s TOUCH, Inc. announces the launch of the 2nd Exposed! Breast Cancer Survivor Calendar. The calendar sold out across the nation and reached eight countries with its commemorative premiere edition and exceeded its fundraising goal of $10,000. Monies raised from calendar sales are used for survivor support, which includes, housing, food, medications and events (such as attending the annual African American Breast Cancer Conference in Oakland, CA.).

“What sets this calendar apart from other calendars is our model’s willingness to be exposed visually and through their personal cancer narrative,” says Founder Reverend Tammie Denyse. “We want people to be reminded each month of the importance of early detection and self-care as well as be encouraged that they can survive any turmoil or setbacks which may come their way. Exposed! is truly a unique memento celebrating breast cancer survivorship.”

“Exposed” is an awareness and educational fundraising project that began in November 2010 with photographs of seventeen breast cancer survivors from Carrie’s TOUCH support groups.  The objective is to visually communicate the message that there is life after breast cancer diagnosis and it is beautiful. The model testimonies showcase their diagnosis, scars and self-acceptance. Each calendar is $20.

Carries’ TOUCH, Inc. was founded September 19, 2006 by breast cancer survivor Reverend Tammie Denyse. After battling the disease, she sought out to create an organization to empower women, provide faith-based support and break the silence that adversely impacts the African American community with regard to breast cancer in order to significantly increase the number of survivors. Members educate the community and empower survivors through speaking engagements, health fairs, seminars, home visits, and support groups. For more information, visit www.carriestouch.org.
