NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Guida’s Dairy spreads holiday cheer as they give back to the local community for the holiday season.  The farmer-owned local CT dairy recently hosted their 1st Annual Guida’s Charity Golf Invitational on September 27th at the Timberlin Golf Club located in Berlin, CT.  The tournament raised an impressive $60,000 for local non-profit organizations in their first year.  All proceeds from this year’s charitable event benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut, the Boys & Girls Club of New Britain, and Rebuilding Together New Britain.   Just in time for the holidays, Guida’s Dairy is presenting these four worthy organizations each with a check for $15,000.

On Monday, November 25th, Guida’s Dairy presented Rebuilding Together New Britain with their $15,000 check.  Rebuilding Together New Britain (RTNB) is a non-profit organization that assists low-income, New Britain homeowners, specifically the elderly, disabled, and families with children, with critical home maintenance and repairs that they are unable to manage on their own due to physical and/or financial limitations. These services are provided at no cost to the homeowner, and are performed, primarily, by RTNB volunteers.

Guida’s Dairy has firsthand experience in the work done by RBTN.  In the spring, Guida’s Dairy sponsored a home project during their annual April Rebuild Event.  Guida’s Dairy’s President, Senior Management team, and several of their employees volunteered to work unpaid during their day off to help repair the home of an elderly couple to safe living conditions.  Even Guida’s Dairy mascot, SUPERCOW, joined in on the fun.

Thanksgiving week, Guida’s Dairy also presented the Brain Injury Alliance of CT (BIAC) with a check for $15,000 on Tuesday, November 26th.  Guida’s Dairy has a long-standing history of supporting the BIAC including last year, when Guida’s Dairy helped raise over $100,000 for the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut.  Proceeds from this year’s Guida’s Charity Golf Invitational will continue to help ensure that brain injury survivors, their families, and those who care for them have access to the resources required for optimal recovery and full community inclusion. In addition, BIAC works to reduce both the number and the severity of brain injuries by increasing public awareness and understanding through outreach and educational opportunities.

The day before Thanksgiving, Michael Young, Guida’s Dairy President, and SUPERCOW surprised the children at the Boys & Girls Club of New Britain with a visit by giving out pencils, key chains, chocolate milk, and smiles.  Additionally, the philanthropic company presented Stan Szczepanik, President of the New Britain Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors, with a $15,000 check from the Guida’s Charity Golf Invitational proceeds.  The Boys & Girls Club of New Britain provides a nurturing, adult-supervised environment for young people from ages 6 to 18, a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, and hope and opportunity.  Throughout this year, Guida’s Dairy has been donating various products to help enrich programs at the Boys & Girls Club of New Britain.

The charitable proceeds from this year’s Guida’s Charity Golf Invitational will reach beyond the holiday season into next year.  Guida’s Dairy is currently scheduled to present their final beneficiary check for $15,000 to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center on January 16th.  Connecticut Children's Medical Center is a nationally recognized, 187-bed not-for-profit children's hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Guida’s Dairy SUPERCOW makes regular visits to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to cheer up children and their families throughout the year.

Philanthropy is part of the culture and a way of life at Guida’s Dairy.  The local CT Company and their employees are passionate about their value of being a good corporate citizen.  Many companies showed their support for their initiative and the non-profit organizations by providing donations, prizes to be raffled off, or by sponsoring this year’s Guida’s Charity Golf Invitational.  Guida’s Dairy is grateful for the support they received from the local community and look forward to continuing the tradition of helping those in need for years to come.
