Party Food Recipes, the second book in their popular cookbook series.  If you need to cook gluten-free, for yourself or someone else, this will be your go-to cookbook when you want to host a party.  The recipes include both appetizers and desserts, are easy to follow, and have been taste-tested by family and friends (both celiac and non-celiac).  The book includes chapters discussing gluten food safety issues, tips for planning a party, and more!

“Several of our family members and friends who have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity must eat gluten-free, but find it difficult attending parties not knowing if they will get “glutened”, said Gillian.  “So, we decided to create party food recipes that would be gluten-free, delicious, and fun for everyone”.

About the Authors

Gillian Olins and her husband, Peter, have spent most of their careers developing novel therapies for diseases in fields including autoimmunity, allergy, cancer, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular diseases.  Gillian was born in New York, but spent much of her childhood in the U.K., where she and Peter both earned their PhDs in biochemistry.  Since then, they have made their home in the U.S. and currently live in Fort Collins, Colorado, which gives them access to all the outdoor opportunities that come from living right next to the Rocky Mountains.

In 2010, they developed a keen interest in the field of celiac disease and gluten sensitivity which was sparked by different family members who were diagnosed with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or wheat allergy.

After reviewing much of the information on these topics readily available on the Internet and other media, they realized that much of it was of poor quality, or even wrong.  So, they created the website Ultimate Gluten Free (http://ultimateglutenfree.com), which launched in February 2011.  The site provides carefully researched information about gluten-related health issues, useful resources, a calendar of events, plus a nationwide database of restaurants and other businesses that serve the gluten-free community.

In many ways, biochemistry is rather like cooking, and Gillian and Peter are avid cooks.  Most of the meals they prepare at home are reliable family recipes, but occasionally they will experiment with something more adventurous.  The recipes in their Gluten-Free, Deliciously! cookbook series are clearly written, and have become favorites with many of their family members and friends.
